Introducing Dr. Mimi!

Get ready to wave your nerd flag, friends!

I am super excited to introduce Dr. Mimi to the blog!  I have always been a believer that the best of us stay up to date on current practice.  We actually like reading journal articles or inspirational books on the topics that are near and dear to our hearts.  (Now, having the time to read is a different story, but I think you know what I mean.  Think summer by the pool with a cocktail, a highlighter and a little Donalyn Miller.  Aaaaaahh…..)

As Dr. Mimi, I plan to post my take on what I’m reading professionally.  (So, bonus! If you don’t have time to read yourself, you can always click here and get my hilarious yet practical take! I say it’s a win-win!)  In the nerdiest corners of my imagination, I also dream about hosting live book clubs…stay tuned for those.

It is my hope that Dr. Mimi can bridge the gap between the research world and the actual classroom application.  So many times I’ve read amazing ideas and then thought to myself, “…um, so what about an actual classroom with actual kids who pee their pants?  What about the constant interruptions, the inside recess days and the lost preps?  How does your finger snapping idea work then?”  (I know, cynical much?)

I may be cynical, but I do love to get better and I love trying new ideas in the classroom.  (That is, when they are my ideas and not shoved down my throat.) (See, there’s that cynical bit again…)
